For many years (since the 1990's), the SETI institute (the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) has had far more data than they could deal with alone. To get some help with this, they decided to send out all the data to the rest of the world. In the last 15 years, Cal State Berkeley has been making this data and many other MASSIVE projects available to everyone who wants it, via BOINC.
What is BOINC?
BOINC stands for Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing. It's the inevitable result of what Scientists and Researchers developed after they realized that they could get the world's computers to help them decode the universe. BOINC is effectively what Crypto mining was before Crypto; using many computers across a massive network to solve problems that one computer would take too long to do.
Why Do This?
The likelihood of making money from this project is much lower than making money from mining Crypto. There are some projects that do offer rewards for completion, but the prizes are small, and you do not get incremental awards for progress. So, you are doing this because you like the idea of helping the world solve problems, that one small group could not do alone. Participating in BOINC is almost purely altruistic.
Tricks to get more out of the App
Alter your options: Go to Preferences, Check the "Show advanced preferences and controls", scroll down. Set "Max battery temperature" to less than 35 C. I used 32.7 C (90 F). This will keep the phone from ever getting too hot.
This is insane, who would allow people with almost no money, to trade stocks for free?
What is Robinhood?
Robinhood starts from the premise of making trading stocks accessible to everyone. Of course anyone could trade stocks before Robinhood, but there was always a cost. Robinhood removes that cost and many of the other barriers that once existed, like brokerages and difficulty in usage. You can trade as many stocks as you like as often as the market is available, regardless of how much money you have.
Why do this?
Investing has historically been a great way of making your money work for you. There are already people in the world who are doing this and you can benefit by helping them do it more. Robinhood helps you, help them, by making it ridiculously easy, by removing the cost barrier.
So many people are on their phones now anyway, it’s just practical to trade from your phone. You can keep up with the stocks and make more trades as needed, rather than have to go home or call your broker. All the info is in your control.

Perk has been around for several years and although it's certainly not in it's Hey Day any longer, it still a candidate for passive income if you know how to play it right.
What is Perk?
Perk is a company that pays you to perform tasks. There are several tasks
(1) Sign Up
(2) Watch Videos
(3) Take Surveys
(4) Play Games
(5) Get Paid
The creators of Perk know that people like money, even if it's a tiny amount of money. A little money here and there over time becomes a lot of money. But you probably already know, that they're making for more from the tasks that they give you, than they pay you. So...
Why Do This?
Perk exists in the "grey" area of typical business practices. If you do the things listed above, they will in fact pay you. But the amount that is paid minuscule as is the skill required to do such. However the grey area allows that people with a little knowledge to do something that most people are not willing to do.
Most people who encounter the Perk Suite, do some survey and watch some videos, but realize all to quickly that they may never reach the minimum payout and that leaves all that profit for Perk. But to those who persevere will find the ...

You may have heard of this on the internet; how you can run this on your phone and make some extra money. It's definitely a real thing. Using your spare data, HoneyGain will pay you for any bandwidth that you're not using via your phone.
You're already going that way, why not get paid to do it? Roadie is an economical service that is similar to the original intent of Lyft / Uber. The idea is that you're already heading in that direction, why not go a little further out of your way to take another item with you. Current delivery services pay their drivers a wage to deliver, but those services are already created for that purpose.
You'd never guess that you can make money just for driving your car. Not for driving and picking stuff or people up, like for Uber / Lyft / Postmates, etc... but for literally, just driving. That's the concept for Smiles.
How does it work?
Smiles is an insurance analysis company that has created an app to track what people do while driving. Smartphones are more than just pocket computers, they have all sorts of sensors that can detect things like GPS location, speed, acceleration, deceleration, even ambient temperature. These are things that Smiles needs from drivers. They need to collect as much data as possible to help in their insurance analysis of how people drive.
They need the data and they have figured out that most people are willing to give it for a pittance of payment. But they need you to actually move further than a few hundred yards.
Payment is $0.03 per mile up to 110 miles per day ($3.30 per day)
Without digging too deeply into the Internets you will definitely find some shady stuff. SwagBucks sounds like a great deal on the surface. Do Stuff, Get Paid, right? There's no two ways about it, how much time are you willing to spend doing stuff, to get cash and gift cards?
It's actually a thing, you can rent any car that you want. Granted you might have to live near someone that has that car and is willing to rent it out, but it's better than the standard vehicles that you can get from a rental agency.
One of the coolest things about the Turo app is being able to rent cars that you can almost never get access to, such as Porches, high-end BMW and Mercedes, and Teslas. There is definitely a higher cost to renting these luxury vehicles, but normally services that do rent them out charge you as much as $250 per hour, rather than the typical $150-200 per day that it will cost on Turo.
How does it work?
1. Sign up for Turo. You will need your Drivers' License & a form of Payment..
2. Search your area Or if you're travelling search near the airport or hotel of your destination.
3. Pick your dates, amenities, insurance, and secure the rental
You can PROBABLY make a lot of money using iBotta, almost to the point of paying for the groceries and items that you purchase. But make no mistake, it will not be a walk in the park.
Like nearly every site that claims that you can either get money for doing nothing or doing next to nothing, iBotta is no different. But in terms of doing very little it does actually pay something. If you purchase the items that iBotta wants you to buy, you can, in some cases get paid more than the item.
Have you ever wondered if there was an app that would pay you to do simple tasks? Well, there is, in fact there are many, but unlike so many of the apps out there, this one is made in Germany and therefore has a very different take on simple tasks.
