Investing for FREE with Robinhood
This is insane, who would allow people with almost no money, to trade stocks for free?
What is Robinhood?
Robinhood starts from the premise of making trading stocks accessible to everyone. Of course anyone could trade stocks before Robinhood, but there was always a cost. Robinhood removes that cost and many of the other barriers that once existed, like brokerages and difficulty in usage. You can trade as many stocks as you like as often as the market is available, regardless of how much money you have.
Why do this?
Investing has historically been a great way of making your money work for you. There are already people in the world who are doing this and you can benefit by helping them do it more. Robinhood helps you, help them, by making it ridiculously easy, by removing the cost barrier.
So many people are on their phones now anyway, it’s just practical to trade from your phone. You can keep up with the stocks and make more trades as needed, rather than have to go home or call your broker. All the info is in your control.
Tricks to get more out of the App (or device)
- Search for the Stock Symbol, either by company name or ticker
- Pin the Name / Ticker to your portfolio, by hitting the + button
- Note: Cash that comes out of selling stocks will not be immediately available to put back in your bank account, it takes a few days. But you can use it to buy more stocks
